West Area 16-1

Go jonkara was created in 1947 when people in the village danced at Go Elementary School.
Women wore a red sash and a wraparound slip and men wore a kentai, or red sash and head band when dancing. They danced until midnight. Following the separation of Go Village in 1956, the chances to dance Go jonkara were few and far between.
In 2002, volunteers in the area restored the dance to preserve the traditions handed down in the area.
