Oshinomaruki was a small settlement located in the east section of what is now Oshino 1-chome. It was a junction on the road to Yokoe, Hakusan City.
A Komori Jizo (babysitting jizo) in Oshinomaruki occupies a corner of this junction, and a festival celebrating it is held each year on the evening of August 24.
Jizo festivals held throughout Japan are generally associated with Jodo-shinshu, the largest Buddhist sect in the nation. Because jizo festivals traditionally functioned more as religious rites, children do not usually participate, despite their being held to pray for their divine protection. In Nonoichi City, however, children attend the Jizo Festival.
