Earthenware uncovered in Noshiro that dates back 3000 years ago shows people lived in the area from ancient times. There were two mounds in Noshiro constructed with river stones. These were called Niso-no-tsuka. Although we cannot identify these mounds at present, a drawing from the Meiji Period (1868-1912) shows a section that was described as "stone mounds." This is thought to be Niso-no-tsuka.
In 1956, Noshiro became part of Kanazawa City. Dissatisfied, however, Noshiro residents joined Okyozuka, Oshino, and Oshikoshi the next year in 1957 to form Nonoichi Town. Noshiro Shrine is the Nonoichi town shrine.
